Saves the Day

Back to the weekly regime. Bi-weekly. Any kind of regime. Leaving prints of the days, of the uninteresting, of the nothing happening. Then that’s it. Trying to understand the forces that mute me and tell me everything I say is utterly useless and unnecessary.   They say it so loud, it’s scary. With time (What I really mean is with age) I would expect fearlessness would take over. Oh how wrong I am. Doubt mountains everywhere I look. And I realize that if I say nothing, if I pretend life can just happen in one dimension, somewhere between the work laptop and the television, that means they won against me. The muting, doubting, questioning forces could triumphantly conclude that there is nothing to see here.   This is my weak attempt to step up and pretend that it matters. In The Flowers

Nincs sok tapasztalatunk házvásárlás terén, úgyhogy amikor kitaláltuk, hogy kell egy nagyobb ház, ahol a felső szomszéd nem tud az idegeinkre menni, egy rövid listán gyűjtöttük össze az elvárásokat: legyen kert a madáretetőnek és növényeknek, legyen vagy lehessen kandalló, biciklizhető távolságban legyen Amszterdam központjától. Amikor először beléptünk ebbe a házba, illetve a kertbe, egy szomorkás őszi napon, az első dolog, mely mindkettőnknek szemet szúrt, és amelynek következményeit a mai napig élvezzük, az a madarak magas számban való jelenléte volt. Különösen egy vörösbegyre emlékeztünk, melyet azóta sem láttunk a kertben. A ház minden negatív tulajdonságát eltakarta az a tény, hogy tele van madárral a kert. Valójában a szomszéd kertje volt tele, mint utóbb kiderült, és akiknek időközben a madáretetési szokásait már egészen kitanultuk és megállapíthatom, hogy egészen kifinomult rendszerük van a különböző madárfajták különböző igényeinek kielégítésére.  Ami a ház negatív tulajd...
